Functional Neuroimaging Laboratory

The Functional Neuroimaging Laboratory (FNL), formerly directed by Drs. David Silbersweig and Emily Stern, is internationally recognized as a cutting-edge research group focusing on the development of new imaging and analysis methods and for the study of a wide variety of neuropsychiatric disorders. Research into mood disorders, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and personality disorders is ongoing. Studies of normal cognitive and emotional function are conducted as a means of defining normal brain function. These data are then used to determine how these circuits may be disrupted in neuropsychiatric disorders.

The Functional Neuroimaging Laboratory trains a large number of fellows with medical and doctoral degrees, residents, and students in the scientific principles and practice of neuropsychiatric functional neuroimaging research, and plays a major role in many national and international research consortia.
