Research

Information on research programs can be obtained from the specific investigator or from the Chairman, Jack Barchas, MD or Vice-Chair for Research, David Silbersweig, MD. The Department's research programs build on strengths in geriatric psychiatry, eating disorders and personality disorders, and encompass new developments in methods of studying the brain and mind. Weill Cornell Psychiatry has launched significant technological and basic science initiatives, inter-institutional and intra-institutional collaborations, and developed major research programs in functional neuroimaging, and in basic neuroscience and genetics.

In addition to several exemplary programs of clinical and basic research, we have established a new program in social medicine and public policy where scholars build on insights gained through psychiatry as well as behavioral and social sciences to approach broader issues related to health policy.

Research in the Department of Psychiatry depends upon individuals participating in a variety of meaningful investigations. If you are considering taking part in one of our clinical trials, or would like more information, please contact Deborah Urdang, NP at (212) 746-4561 or dsu9001@med.cornell.edu.
