Medical Student Education Program
The Department has a strong tradition of teaching medical students. While a substantial number of students at Weill Cornell Medical College choose psychiatry as their eventual specialty, we are equally proud of the high ranking that we receive for our teaching among the medical students who go on to specialize in other areas.
The Department of Psychiatry's program in medical student education is highly regarded within the College and throughout the country. The Department plays a major role in several pre-clinical courses, including: Medicine, Patients, and Society I and II, and Brain and Mind. In addition to the 3rd year clerkship in psychiatry, the Department participates in the clerkship in primary care, and in the 4th year, offers a module in the Advanced Basic Science course. It also sponsors numerous electives in clinical care and research for students from Weill Cornell and other schools.
Please refer to the two links above for more detailed information regarding our Clinical and Pre-Clinical teaching.
