Sibel Klimstra, MD Wins AAGP (American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry) Educator of the Year Award
Sibel Klimstra, MD, director of the geriatric psychiatry residency training program of New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Payne Whitney Westchester, was named AAGP's 2008 Educator of the Year. Dr. Klimstra, associate professor of clinical psychiatry at Weill Medical College, Cornell University, and associate attending psychiatrist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, is recognized for her accomplishments and excellence in teaching, mentoring, and career development of students and faculty, curriculum and program development, and leadership in geriatric psychiatry education. "Receiving the 2008 Educator of the Year Award is a great honor for me, and I consider it a privilege to help educate the next generation of geriatric psychiatrists," Dr. Klimstra commented. She added, "I am very fortunate to have such a rewarding job at Weill-Cornell Medical Center/New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where physician educators are valued and encouraged. I am also grateful for the mentorship of Dr. George Alexopoulos, the collegiality and support of our faculty, and the dedication, scholarship and clinical excellence of all our residents and students."
